What if… you chose the wrong path?

There once was a little girl… who dreamed.

Then she grew up.

…and her dreams ran away.

But their essence became nightmares known as regret.

 -- me.

Through the soft haze of sleep, I see myself in a mirror.

It’s ornate and old.

The person looking back at me is young.  She has my sharp nose and strong features.  But her eyes are full of confusion and wonder, her hair is lighter and waifs around her shoulders… light and airy.

I reach my hand out and follow the long line from her brown to her cupids bow, she puzzles then giggles back at me.

With unknown clarity, I see the girl I used to be.

…And then I break.

I begin to pound on the mirror, and scream at her.

I try to warn her of all our upcoming mistakes, but she screams in fear of what her future holds… and runs from me.

I wake suddenly, sitting straight up within a dark room on a soft bed with an odd since of  Deja vu… I’m breathing sporadically, a cold sweat is running down my jaw; when I feel a small warm and clammy hand on my arm, “mommy, are you alright?”

I glance over…

To see myself…

Only this time she is real, “I’m fine princess, go back to sleep.”

“did you have a nightmare?”

“yes, but I’m fine baby, please go back to sleep.”

she turns and cuddles her soft feet under my legs… and soon goes motionless with sleep once more.

I lay awake the remainder of the night, afraid of the regret that awaits me when I close my eyes.

"Out of the experience of suffering, an invitation is found.

We learn that life is much riskier, more powerful, more mysterious than we ever thought possible. While we are rendered more uncomfortable by this discovery, it is a humbling that deepens spiritual possibility.

The world is more magical, less predictable, more autonomous, less controllable, more varied, less simple, more infinite, less knowable, more wonderfully troubling than we could have imagined being able to tolerate when we were young"

It Is Said Some Lives Are Linked Across Time..... Connected By An Ancient Calling..... that echos through the ages.... Destiny

the title of this blog was the quote seen at the end of the Disney movie, Prince of Persia.  it gives me chills every time i see it... <and my daughter watches is alot>

*It Is Said Some Lives Are Linked Across Time..... Connected By An Ancient Calling..... that echos through the ages.... Destiny*
SO... What is Destiny?  or Fate?

--what Webster thinks...
FATE:  <feyt> noun
the universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed; the decreed cause of events; time: Fate decreed that they would never meet again
DESTINY:  <des-te-ne> noun
a predetermined course of events often held to be an irresistible power or agency

-- what wiki think...
Although the words are used interchangeably in many cases, fate and destiny can be distinguished.
Traditional usage defines fate as a power or agency that predetermines and orders the course of events. Fate defines events as ordered or "inevitable" and unavoidable. Classical and European mythology features three goddesses dispensing fate, known as Moirai in Greek mythology, as Parcae in Roman mythology, and as Norns in Norse mythology. They determine the events of the world through the mystic spinning of threads that represent individual human fates.
Destiny is used with regard to the finality of events as they have worked themselves out; and that same sense of Destination, projected into the future to become the flow of events as they will work themselves out.
In other words, fate relates to events of the future and present of an individual and in cases in literature unalterable, whereas destiny relates to the probable future. Fate implies no choice, but with destiny the entity is participating in achieving an outcome that is directly related to itself. Participation happens willfully.

Fate, Chance, God's Will - we all try to account for our lives somehow. What are the chances that two raindrops, flung from the heavens, will merge on a windowpane? Gotta be Fate. ~Robert Brault

There is an unseen life that dreams us. It knows our true direction and destiny. We can trust ourselves more than we realize and we need have no fear of change. ~John O'Donohue
“I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be.”

 Douglas Adams quotes

There is a divinity that shapes our ends, Rough-hew them how we will.
William Shakespeare

The destiny of man is in his own soul.
